Collection of Information
Gold Cover Insurance Services Ltd (referred to as GCIS in the remainder of this
document) are committed to protecting your privacy. We will only use the information
that we collect about you lawfully (in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998).
We collect information about you for two reasons: first, to process your order and
second, to provide you with the best possible service.
We will not e-mail you in the future unless you have given us your consent.
Information We May Provide to Others
We only disclose information about our applicants, customers and former customers
as permitted or required by law in conjunction with our normal insurance service
operations, such as:
- in the processing of an insurance claim;
- in connection with a legal proceeding;
- with government agencies which conduct examinations of our procedures.

business needs for such information with respect to the insurance policies you purchase.
We maintain physical, procedural and electronic safeguards to protect the privacy
and confidentiality of your nonpublic personal information.

GCIS collects and maintains personal information from you in order to carry out
its functions as a provider of insurance products. All personal information that
is submitted is treated with the utmost confidentiality and with appropriate levels
of security.
This information is used to manage the issuance of an insurance policy, including
underwriting and claims handling, and may be stored as computer records and/or paper
files to assist us to complete transactions, or follow up discrepancies, complaints
or queries. Details may also be submitted to regulatory authorities and auditors.
We only use the information that we collect about you lawfully (in accordance with
the Data Protection Act 1998).
Internet Data Transfer
The GCIS website does not contain any code or application designed to obtain any
kind of information about you from your computer, apart from what is required to
establish a connection and transfer content between the GCIS website and your computer.
The GCIS host servers do obtain information about the number of connections to it,
this data may contain details such as your IP address, the kind of operating system
you are using and the version of your internet browser. This information is used
only for the purposes of analysing the traffic to the website. It does not contain
any kind of data about you which may be classified as personal or private.
Cookies
The GCIS website uses "cookies" to track visitor navigation. "Cookies" are small
text files stored on your computer which identify it to our website. Cookies do
not contain viruses, and the cookies stored on your computer by the GCIS website
do not contain any kind of personal, private or sensitive information. They are
used by GCIS simply to track navigation and remember data and preferences submitted
by the visitor. Cookies can be disabled on your browser, though this may hamper
your ability to effectively obtain a quote and purchase a policy from our website.
Email
We do not guarantee the security of emails sent through standard web forms or non-secure
connections and protocols. GCIS accepts no liability for loss or theft of sensitive
data submitted through these media and does not recommend the transfer of sensitive
data via these methods.
Sensitive Data
Any sensitive data supplied by you in order to purchase an insurance policy such
as dates of birth or health details will be used only for the purpose specified
at the time of submitting this data. This data is not supplied to any external sources
except the insurers or their appointed agents, and is used only within GCIS purely
for the stated purpose.
We do however reserve the right to provide this information when we are legally
obliged to official bodies such as the Police, the Courts or other organisations
investigating insurance fraud.
Transaction Security
GCIS utilises secure services to protect any financial transactions carried out
on it's website. Information such as credit card details are automatically protected
using a Secure Socket Layer (SSL) between your computer and ours. SSL prevents impersonation.
Click on the padlock symbol at the bottom of the screen to reveal our registration
certificate issued by Thawte, a leading internet security company. SSL also encrypts
data from the time it leaves your computer, till when it reaches us, so there is
almost no chance of your details being stolen or hijacked as it travels over the
internet.
GCIS does not however guarantee the security of your personal information when processed
through the Site and the Internet and we cannot accept liability for loss or theft
of your personal details when processed on the Site and/or over the Internet.
Statutory Rights
By entering into a contract of insurance you will take on certain obligations and
grant certain powers to the insurer. Nothing contained in this contract affects
your rights as a consumer.
